resolution

this new years, i have been thinking a lot about improving. mostly improving myself. and improving my family. i think about the things that i want to change or work on and the list seems gargantuan and completely overwhelming and honestly, kind of depressing. so i have been thinking about narrowing it down to one thing. one word to be exact that would encompass a theme for what i would like to work toward this year. although the word turned out to be not what i expected it seems to be the one that would improve and encompass every area of my life that needs improvement. the word i chose.....

REVERENCE.

this word has flown around in the back of my mind for months now. i feel that it is one of the most important things that we can learn. David O. McKay said, "Reverence is profound respect mingled with love." i need more of this in my life. i need to take more time to be quiet and worship each day. i want to work on having our home be a place of peace where the spirit abides. i want each person in this home to feel safe, valued and respected. i have great desire to communicate with the spirit more. as i have thought about it, i realize that i don't listen to bad music or watch inappropriate tv shows. i read my scriptures and say my prayer, try to serve others and do those basics so i often wonder why i feel so out of tune with spiritual things. this is why i have narrowed it down to reverence. quiet, deep and meaningful daily worship. i believe that this can make a difference to the inside of me.

so this is the theme i have chosen for this year. i know that it seems completely un-cool but i need it.

very nice! I think this is a wise and wonderful goal to have. I am anxious to hear how much your life improves as you work to implement this more in your life.
