spoke too soon....

turns out, i should have kept my mouth shut. the next day started with SEVERE toothache for me. turned out i had a root canal in store. after running to appts all morning, i finally got home and started teaching my afternoon piano lessons when i heard a shrill scream....the kind when you know something is REALLY wrong. caleb had been running around the outside of the safety net on our trampoline with some kids and fallen off and....wait for it....broken his arm....again. there was no doubt....it was seriously twisted backwards in a place where arms don't bend. my sweet friend, kristi, just happened to be out there as she was picking her kids up from lessons and she carried him toward me completely horrified! i picked him up and adjusted his arm so that it was straight against his chest. and went to get things calmed down. eric came home within a few minutes. emma came over and whisked off my children within a few minutes and kristi stayed until the remaining students were picked up.

so off we went to the hospital to be greeted by the same team of doctors as last time....they remembered us. caleb had been an absolute champ through all of this. barely heard a peep out of him. we took him in for the x-ray and it was broken clean through both bones again...not in the same place though. anyway, the good news was that when i had picked him up and adjusted his arm, apparently, i had set the bone back into place perfectly! so there was no iv, no going under or anesthesia and no surgery. they just splinted him up and we were ready to go. as we walked out the emergency room, caleb announces, "well, that was awesome!"

oh dear. in a couple of days, the splint will be replaced by a cast which will be much more secure. they just have to wait for the swelling to go down. next morning, i had root canal.....it was the worst i've ever had. it wasn't painful when they did it, but today, i felt like they beat me up. can barely eat anything. maybe that's a good thing:)

the week was topped off with three photoshoots and three make-up piano lessons! i am pooped! probably more emotionally than anything else. i am ready for sunday!

what??? you were so amazing this morning! how could you have gone through all of that and no one even knew?

You are amazing, Janine. I can't believe all that you gave this weekend, in the midst of all you were going through. I had a root canal a few days ago, too, and oy. The PAIN. I totally understand.

THANK YOU for all you did today, and for the person you are. Prayers upon prayers your way, my friend.

Well, from all the stories Dave tells me of his "wild" days, it sounds like Caleb takes a little after his uncle Roy... :)
