but let me back up. on the way, we (eric, janine, maryn, caleb, josh, and of course, aury) stopped in utah and stayed with jodi and the kids and had a great time and even got to go to a movie. we also stopped at ikea for way too little time and grabbed the light fixtures that i have been dying to get my hands on to replace the hideous brass numbers in our front room. then we stopped for a few moments and visited aunty glenda and uncle bushy which was lovely to see them. and then we were on our way to dubois, id.
we had a lovely quiet week. it was filled with four-wheeling....both in the day and at night....with lane and that was SO much fun. those mountains were absolutely gorgeous and felt like heaven of earth. it is no wonder to me that they are teaming with wildlife and wildflowers, spectacular views....a piece of heaven. and i loved the night ride. a few hours in pitch dark and cool rain, soaked and muddy, with the feeling that you might happen across a wolf or bear at any second. lots of fun.
then there were the horses. eric got on sugar (our baby....okay, so she's four now) for the first time. she is so beautiful, level headed and smart. she didn't buck even once and acted like she'd been ridden for years. minutes after his first ride, the kids even had a go....with eric leading....and she was amazing.
eric, aury and i also went for a lovely ride in kilgore followed up with some riding for the kids. maryn and caleb are both coming along really nicely and riding mostly on their own. joshie has become and addict and if he is not allowed to be on the horse, he wants to be holding the lead rope or leading the horse. he is not even phased by these giants triple overhead. can't decide if that's a good thing or not.
all in all, a fantastic trip and great company! thanks for having us mary & blaine!
maryn on sugar....

auryn complimented caleb on his riding (on jaydee)....he said it was because he remembered to wear his cowboy hat....

sue, josh, and cowboy caleb...

joshie wrangling jaydee and grandma mary wrangling josh....

until next time, idaho!
