life goes on

i was just realizing what a bloggin' slacker i've been lately so i thought i would throw in a little everyday update of sorts. 

little miss maryn is enjoying school....now.  she had me panicking for a little while there as the first week or so, she was coming home less than enthused and not excited about returning the next day.  when i'd ask if she made any new friends, she said, 'no.' when i asked if she liked her teacher, she said, 'we are learning about fish but i don't know WHAT she was talking about!' and when i asked if she had fun on the playground, she said that she just sat out.  needless to say, my praying skills kicked into gear.  it's a scary thing to send your first baby off into the unknown. so i prayed. i prayed hard.  maryn prayed too.  we talked a lot about making friends....which usually takes her all of 5 seconds but given this whole new world to her, she got really shy.  so after about the first five school days, i went to pick her up.  she hopped into the car and was beaming! "mom! guess what? i made 2 new friends today! ryan and mckenzie! and we played and one of the boys was really mean to mckenzie so i told him to be nice and......" my heart was singing! and every day since, she has loved it and come home chattering about all her new friends! phew!

then yesterday, she drew a picture for her new friend....the....ahem...aforementioned ryan.  if you are familiar with my 'ryan' history, you should know i should have seen this one coming!  so she is just thrilled with this little picture to give to her friend.  this is what i saw.....

if you need a rough translation: that would be ryan and maryn holding hands. with hearts scattered and the speech bubble from ryan's mouth reading, "(heart) i maryn"  then a horse stamp at the top for the mailing of course and the other figure watching on is apparently kate.....maiya's nemesis who usually makes it into every story worth telling.    anyway, i think it was all quite innocent as she was really taken back at my suggestion that ryan might just get the wrong idea from this picture. shoot. dangit.  why did i bring this up?  she just was meaning that he was her best friend. and i just turned it into something more.  eeeessshh!  in the meantime, she is begging to have a play date. 

then there is my completely gorgeous boy caleb.  he misses maryn and is quite bored with her gone.  i have to say that i LOVE the one-on-one with caleb.  he gets so chatty!  he jokes around and plays and loves his brother.  he is DYING to start his "prechool" next week (which is the clever name i've given to his group speech therapy at the elementary school).  i am actually going to be sad when he talks normally.  he has such an adorable little way of speaking....but i guess it won't be quite as adorable when he's 19....so for now...speech therapy!

joshie is growing like a WEED! he is a tank! he is far too mobile and gets into whatever his little heart desires.  he is all smiles 90% time and laughs his head off at maryn and caleb's entertaining antics.  he climbs onto everything.  he falls off of everything.  hence all the bumps.  but he just seems to brush it off and carry on with his day.  he is so close to walking. yikes! 

eric is getting to the end of the summer and so things at work are slowing down a little....and by slowing down, i mean, he is almost home by when he says he will be. but he is enjoying his job and i thank heavenly father every day that he has one!

i am trying to get into a routine of things around here.  it's been crazy.  my piano teaching schedule both at the music academy and at home has been muddled around so much that i constantly have this feeling of disarray.  i will be pleased when we can settle into the routine of the school year!  in other news....i finally got my photoshop cs4 program that i have been saving for!  happy day! the bad new is, my computer doesn't feel like installing it. i think it's just about to give up the ghost.  so i guess now we're saving for a new computer.  plus i wiped off my previous photoshop program to make room for it so no photo editing is going down right now. so sorry if the pics are lame. 

oh yes, and still house hunting. nothing to report.
